Assault: 3900 Block of Geary Boulevard, May 24, 8:30 a.m.  

The victim was trying to clean a garbage can with a pressure washer, by the side of the farmers market building. 

An unhoused individual objected to this and hit him with a piece of wood, with two protruding nails, taken from a wooden pallet. 

Responding officers located the suspect. She was identified by the victim, and the officers placed her under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. 

Felony Vandalism: Park Presidio Boulevard and California Street, May 25, 3:58 p.m.

Officers on patrol recognized a suspect from a prior vandalism incident, where he threw a brick through a glass office door. The victim had provided officers with surveillance video and still shots of the suspect, who had been agitated and verbally combative. 

The suspect was taken into custody and booked at County Jail for felony vandalism and outstanding warrants. 

Assault: Masonic Avenue and Euclid Avenue, May 26, 1:36 p.m.

The victim was driving southbound on Masonic Avenue when he observed a male on a scooter, with no helmet, weaving and veering towards his vehicle. The victim honked the horn to try and warn the scooter rider that he was there. The victim stopped at the red traffic light, and the suspect stopped behind him, got off his scooter, and approached the driver’s front door. 

The suspect started yelling, “Don’t you ever do that again!” at the victim, while kicking the driver’s door. The victim opened his door and exited the vehicle, whereupon the suspect sprayed him with pepper spray. 

The suspect then fled on the scooter and is still outstanding.

Outstanding Warrant: 7700 Block of California Street, May 27, 9:20 a.m. 

A known suspect, who in 2018 called the FBI and informed them that he was having ideations about a mass shooting, was observed violating a stay-away order from his parents’ residence situated opposite the Katherine Delmar Burke School. 

Responding officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest. The suspect also had a felony warrant out of Arizona for possession of ammunition.

Retail Theft: 200 Block of Clement Street, May 27, 11:35 a.m. 

The suspect entered the victim’s store, took some items, and left without paying. The store owner followed the suspect down the street, asking him to return the items. The suspect pulled a knife out of his duffle bag, looked at the victim, and said “I’m going to —-ing stab you!” 

Responding officers located a suspect, sitting in a bus stop, who matched the picture provided by the victim. The victim responded to the scene and positively identified the suspect, who was placed under arrest for robbery. 

The suspect was also booked for multiple active warrants, and his probation officer was notified of his probation violation. 

Felony Driving Under the Influence: 19th Avenue and Judah Street, May 30, 9:29 p.m. 

The suspect vehicle ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, injuring the occupants, and fled the scene. 

A witness to the collision followed the driver until police were able to detain her. 

The suspect did not perform well in field sobriety tests and was taken to Richmond Station where a breath test was administered. The result was .27% blood alcohol concentration (BAC). The legal limit is .08% BAC. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for felony DUI, hit and run, a red-light violation, and a warrant for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. 

Robbery: Park Presidio Boulevard and Geary Boulevard, June 3, 5:46 p.m.

The victim was participating in a political demonstration when the suspect approached him and grabbed his megaphone. 

The victim struggled to retain the megaphone until the suspect punched him in the face. The blow caused him to release his grip. The suspect fled with the megaphone and the victim pursued him, demanding his property back. 

Fellow demonstrators came to aid the victim, and the suspect dropped the megaphone and fled the area. 

The suspect is still outstanding. 

Driving Under the Influence: Arguello Boulevard and California Street, June 4, 12:49 p.m. 

The suspect vehicle backed into a parked vehicle getting air at a gas station. 

Responding officers observed the suspect driver’s behavior to be consistent with someone under the influence of a controlled substance. He was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. 

A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic baggie which contained a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for cocaine. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for driving without a license, driving under the influence and possession for sale of a controlled substance. 

Arson: 800 Block of La Playa Street, June 6, 6:15 a.m. 

An elevator serviceman doing repairs for a condominium complex saw the suspect actively lighting the building’s awning on fire with a lighter and moving the lighter flame down the frame of the awning, to set the entire awning alight. 

SFFD arrived and extinguished the fire. 

Responding officers located the suspect under another awning, with a lighter in her hand. She was also holding a glass tube with white residue and burn marks. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for arson, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Arson Task Force was notified.

Burglary: 600 Block of 48th Avenue, June 8, 5:43 p.m. 

The victim, who was traveling in Europe, asked the house sitter to check the residence, as she had been informed that her vehicle had been vandalized. 

When the house sitter arrived at the house, she saw the suspect in the house, walking up the stairs into the living room. The suspect told the house sitter, “I’m waiting for my friend, Patricia,” which is not the victim’s name. Responding officers searched the house and located the suspect trying to exit through a side door. 

The suspect was detained and then placed under arrest, after officers’ investigations. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for first degree burglary, possession of stolen property, and providing false identification to a police officer. 

Robbery: 4400 Block of Geary Boulevard, June 9, 10:17 a.m.   

The suspect gave the bank teller a brown paper bag, with a note written on it saying, “I want all your money.” The teller couldn’t read the note and asked the suspect what it said. The suspect said, “Give me money. I have this,” and displayed a box cutter. 

The victim, in fear, gave the suspect cash. The suspect walked out of the front door, grasping the stolen cash in his hand. 

An SFPD officer, responding on his patrol bicycle, arrived through the side door as the suspect exited the front door. 

The Assistant Bank Manager pointed out the suspect to the officer, and the suspect was immediately detained outside of the bank, with the stolen cash still clutched in his right hand. 

After officers’ investigations, the suspect was placed under arrest. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for robbery, brandishing a weapon, second degree burglary, and warrants for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, felony vandalism and possession of methamphetamine. 

Robbery Division was notified. 

Violation of Stay Away Order: 5200 block of Geary Boulevard, June 12, 7 p.m.  

SFPD officers responded to a dropped 911 call. While officers were en route, an additional call was received, stating that there was a subject harassing a customer and causing a disturbance. 

Based on the subject’s description, the officers suspected it might be a known individual who has had multiple prior police contacts, and who is known to have been served a Criminal Protective Order restraining him. 

Upon arrival the officers encountered the subject, who was slurring his words and had a strong odor of alcohol. A records check confirmed that the subject had a served Criminal Protective Order. He was placed under arrest. (SFPD noted that, within a year’s time frame, the suspect has been arrested for violating this Criminal Protective Order on three separate occasions.) 

The suspect has been advised by numerous Richmond Station officers, including the arresting officer, regarding his active protective order, which he has acknowledged. 

The suspect is also on probation for felony vandalism. 

Based on his violation that day being a continuing offense, the suspect was booked at County Jail for violating a restraining order.

Warrant Arrest: 6200 Block of Geary Boulevard, June 13, 9:23 p.m.  

Officers on patrol observed a subject with whom they had prior contacts and who had previously had active warrants. 

A computer records check of the subject listed an outstanding warrant for burglary, out of Marin County. Central Warrants Bureau (CWB) confirmed the warrant, and the officers placed the suspect under arrest without incident. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for his outstanding warrant. 

Lodging Without Permission: 800 Block of Great Highway, June 14, 8:11 a.m. 

Homeless Outreach officers responded to complaints regarding a tent in the parking lot of 800 Great Highway. They observed a structure created from a large tarp, surrounded by plastic pallets, bicycles and bicycle parts, open containers of urine, needles, discarded food containers, and other debris. 

The officers secured shelter for the subject and his girlfriend. The officers informed the subject that if he refused to accept available shelter, he could be cited, and his structure seized. The officers also explained that the condition of his encampment was creating a public nuisance and he could be cited for maintaining it. 

The subject and his girlfriend refused shelter, preferring to relocate their encampment. 

Vandalism to Vehicle: 100 Block of Cornwall Street, June 16, 8:45 a.m. 

Officers, responding to a call of a mentally unstable male breaking car windows with a hammer, located a subject nearby, swinging a crowbar. 

The officers detained the subject and spoke with witnesses who identified the subject as the male who had broken three car windows. The subject told officers he suffers from schizophrenia and hears voices telling him to hurt others. 

Based on his violent behavior and statements, the officers determined he was danger to others, because of a mental health disorder, and transported him to San Francisco General Hospital for assessment, evaluation and crisis intervention – a Welfare, and Institutions (W&I) 5150 detention. 

Assault: 800 Block of La Playa Street, June 15, 6:33 p.m. 

The victim was walking out of Safeway with his groceries when the suspect approached the victim, holding a knife in his right hand. The suspect told the victim, “I don’t like your face. I don’t like your hair. You’re going to die!” 

The victim, afraid that the suspect was going to stab him, began backing away from him. The suspect pushed the victim backwards, the victim fell to the ground, and the suspect stood over him and said, “You’re going to die tonight!” Store security intervened and the suspect threatened to stab both security guards, and then fled southbound on La Playa. 

Responding officers located the suspect hiding behind a bush on the path behind Beach Chalet, the suspect initially ran towards them, then ran away and entered the Beach Chalet restaurant. The officers deployed a less lethal extended range impact weapon (ERIW), a.k.a. “bean bag” shot gun, and were able to detain, cuff and search the suspect without incident. Officers locating a knife in his jacket pocket. 

The officers conducted eyewitness identifications (“cold shows”) with the victims, with positive results, and the suspect was placed under arrest. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for multiple counts of assault and criminal threats. 

Burglary: 500 Block of 11th Avenue, June 19, 8:21 a.m.  

Officers responded to a call of a person who broke into a home, wearing distinctive green and white clothing. 

Officers located a subject nearby who matched the description and detained her. 

The homeowner participated in a cold show and positively identified the suspect, who was placed under arrest. An arrest search located a glass tube with white residue and burn marks (a “crack pipe”) in the suspect’s pocket. 

The homeowner provided officers with doorbell camera surveillance video, which showed the suspect breaking a glass pane in the front door with a rock and attempting to open the door from the inside. 

The suspect was booked at County Jail for first degree burglary, vandalism, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant for a prior “failure to appear.” 

Theft: 700 Block of 17th Avenue, June 20, 3 a.m. 

   Officers responded to a call of the theft of a catalytic convertor on 24th Avenue. While searching the area for the suspects, another call came in, with a vehicle description, in the location of Fifth Avenue and Anza Street. As officers arrived at the location, a witness pointed them to a car that was southbound on Fifth Avenue, which turned west of Fulton Street, then turned north on 17th Avenue at a high rate of speed. 

The officers noticed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle parked in a driveway, mid-block 17th Ave, and two subjects walking up the driveway of a nearby house. A license plate query of the suspect vehicle returned a registered address out of Oakland, and the vehicle had no condensation on it, unlike all the neighboring vehicles. 

The officers observed a catalytic convertor in the middle of the rear seat and detained the two nearby subjects. One of the subjects, after being Mirandized, said he wanted his phone and wallet from the suspect vehicle. An inventory search of the vehicle, prior to it being towed, revealed nine catalytic convertors, multiple metal cutting blades, a Milwaukee cutting tool, a.k.a. Sawzall, multiple Milwaukee tool batteries, a vehicle jack, a large bag containing a white crystalline-like substance (which later tested positive for methamphetamine), and a glass pipe with white residue and burn marks. 

The suspects were booked at County Jail for conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.
