PEORIA (25 News Now) - Sunday Morning League history was made Sunday in Peoria. The 107-year-old amateur baseball league has a new king of the mound.

Clay McConkey, of the Miller Lite team, struck out his 950th batter during Sunday’s game, breaking the league’s 58-year-old record for strikeouts once held by Harry Dean Blair.

McConkey began Sunday’s game seven strikeouts away from the league’s all-time strikeout record. The 34-year-old former North Fulton high star has been a Sunday Morning League Star for 14 years.

Blair’s daughter-in-law and grandson were both at Sunday’s game to congratulate McConkey.
