Rescue crews respond to an Enterprise trailer fire

COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Initially, there was concern a late Sunday afternoon trailer fire may have been caused by fireworks, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

The fire occurred in a small mobile home park just south of the Enterprise city limits off Highway 27. Battens Volunteer Fire Department received mutual aid from Tri-Community Volunteer Engine Units along with Enterprise Fire Department.

A neighbor, Jason Johnson, said his wife saw the occupant, Tracey Moore, escape from the structure shortly before flames could be seen coming from the windows.

“Come to find out the trailer was on fire,” Johnson said. “She called the fire department and I came out here and got my water hose and started wetting the grass down so it wouldn’t get to our trailer. Then the fire department got here and put it out.”

Battens Fire Chief, Jeffrey Wood, tells WDHN the fire started in the kitchen area, and fortunately neither the occupant nor her pets were injured.
