NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Investigators are searching for a 14-year-old boy who they believe shot and killed a man in Westmoreland County on Sunday.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office said that Jason Raiford was shot and killed in a seemingly senseless act of violence.

Investigators worked throughout Sunday to learn more. So far, they have arrested two minors on felony gun charges and have issued an arrest warrant for Amir Kennedy. Kennedy is wanted for homicide.

Westmoreland County dispatchers say police responded to the Valley at around 2 p.m.

The names of the other two minors have not been released.

The incident occurred at the Valley Royal Court along Fifth Avenue.

Channel 11 observed police finding what appeared to be a large, high-powered rifle.

On Monday afternoon, the neighborhood appeared to be back to normal outside of a bloodstained sidewalk and makeshift memorial.

One neighbor in the area said that while violence is a major issue, he believes having more after school programs and healthier outlets for the community’s youth would help save lives.

“They need something educational. Something productive,” said neighbor Tom Haden. “What is this, you know? This is unheard of.”

“The community should remain vigilant over the Fourth of July holiday today. This remains an ongoing investigation with paramount importance to all three agencies involved,” said district attorney Nicole Ziccarelli.

Anyone who may know the location of Amir Kennedy is asked to call 911 or New Kensington police at (724) 339-7534.
