Family of Louisville man who died after being attacked with machete Saturday speaking out about his death
The mother of a Louisville man who died after being pierced with a machete Saturday morning is speaking out about her son's death.Police say 30-year-old Davon Banks died from sharp force injuries after an altercation on Garland Avenue in the California neighborhood. It happened at around 11 a.m. Fifty-eight-year-old Elvis Anderson has been arrested and charged with murder for the incident. He also is facing two other charges of assault, as police said he injured two adult females during the altercation. "I would call Davon like a million times a day," said Veterra Banks, Davon's mom. "Like a million, this is no joke."However, now those phone calls have come to an end. Authorities said Davon Banks was dead before they arrived."How is your hand on this object that is moving in and out of somebody's body?" said Banks. "I really don't even have any emotion, like I don't feel anything. I know that you're not supposed to hate people, but I honestly like hate him."Banks said even though he's behind bars, she finds it unfair Anderson gets to live and not her son. "You took my baby away for no reason," she said. "I gave birth to him. He shouldn't be able to be free because my baby can't walk the face of the earth anymore. He can't walk so why should he get to walk the face of the earth?"She spent her Sunday driving all the way from Georgia so that she can be in the same city her son died in for his funeral in a couple of days. She said it was the hardest day of her life and going forward she knows it'll only get harder."I have to keep on praying, and hold myself together, even though normally it's him holding me together," said Banks. "This guy . He don't know what he did."Anderson is due in court Monday.
