An update after an embattled bar reopened in Saratoga Springs Saturday night.
Gaffney's on Caroline Street is back open, after being closed by authorities in may following a string of violent incidents.
City officials say they are pleased with the reopening.
Saratoga Springs Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino says requirements to reopen included a single point of entry, all patrons must go through a security check, and a manager must be present during all hours of operation.
Montagnino says he is optimistic the bar will continue to be successful this time around, especially as the racetrack season is set to kick off this month.
"It lessens the opportunity for somebody to come in and make trouble, there were earlier incidents that led to the problems, people had weapons concealed on their persons. Now the wanding and better trained security are there to stop the escalation."
No comment yet from the bar owner, but prior to the opening, he told CBS 6 they would still have a great patio and vibe.
CBS 6 learned this past week that the New York State Liquor Authority reinstated Gaffney’s liquor license.
