Fireworks, bootcamp, Shakespeare on the Green, Jazz on the Green, gallery opening, crafts, and Penelope the Dinosaur are among the free, family-friendly events Independence Day week.
The Gene Leahy Mall finishes its grand opening with a concert from the Omaha Symphony on Monday, July 4 at 8:00 p.m.
They will perform a Salute to our Military in the Performance Pavilion which will be followed by Independence Day fireworks.
The Gene Leahy Mall will follow up its grand opening festivities with more activities in the park, according to a Facebook event page.
The YMCA will host a free outdoor bootcamp series every Tuesday and Thursday starting Tuesday, July 5 at 5:30 p.m.
There will be a variety of workouts for all ability levels. This is to get people moving and having fun.
Shakespeare on the Green returns to Elmwood Park with "Othello" and "The Tempest," according to Nebraska Shakespeare's website.
"Othello" directed by Tyrone Beasley will take place on Wednesday, July 6, Thursday, July 7, and Saturday, July 9.
"The Tempest" directed by Scott Glasser will take place on Friday, July 8 and Sunday, July 10.
Admission is free, and festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the performance at 8:00 p.m.
Another annual summer tradition for Omaha, Jazz on the Green, will kick off on Thursday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Midtown Crossing at Turner Park, according to the event's website.
Every Thursday through August 11, the free concerts will take place.
To start the show, Alexis Arai with Matt Wallace & Latin Knights will perform on Thursday, July 7.
Arai is known for her sultry jazz and lively pop style.
The lawn opens at 5:00 p.m. with preshow festivities at 6:30 p.m.
A gallery opening will take place at the W. Dale Clark Library, 215 S 15th St., on Friday, July 8 at 4:00 p.m., according to the Facebook event page.
The free gallery, Bear Witness, will feature Ally Karsyn, Daniel Castaneda, Jacqueline Washington, and Jair Rodriguez.
Culture, knowledge, justice, change, future growth, and more will be seen through the eyes of the artists.
Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) will host crafts for kids on Saturday, July 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., according to NFM's website.
The craft is summer themed, and it will only be available for the first 100 kids.

Penelope the Dinosaur is making an appearance at the Millard Branch Library, 13214 Westwood Ln., according to Omaha Public Library (OPL)'s website.
On Sunday, July 10 at 2:00 p.m., kids can enjoy music, storytime, and more.
The event is free and meant for kids five and under.
