MECOSTA COUNTY, MI - Two 7-year-old children face none life-threatening injuries after crashing an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) into a pole Sunday morning.
On Sunday, July 3, at 11:35 a.m., deputies were dispatched to an ATV incident driven by a Grand Rapids 7-year-old female and her 7-year-old brother, police said.
The female driver hit a pole in the Morley Dollar General parking lot when she got ejected from the ATV, police said.
Both parties were treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The parents were cited for allowing a minor to operate an off-road vehicle (ORV) without supervision.
In light of the incident, the sheriff’s office reminds parents not to allow minors to ride an ORV without adult supervision, according to the news release.
Parents and children planning to purchase an ORV are asked to take an ORV safety course and always wear a helmet. Official ORV laws can be found on the DNR website.
