VISTA, Calif. (CNS) - A 35-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of robbery after he tried to steal a tip jar from a coffee shop, authorities said.

At 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Mylon Knox approached the drive-thru window of Black Rock Coffee on East Vista Way and tried to steal the tip jar from the outside counter, said Sgt. Andrew Brumfield of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"When the employees pulled the jar into the window, Knox yelled at the employees to give him the money and tried to force the window open to get to the jar," Brumfield said. "The employees were able to scare Knox off and he fled on foot toward Civic Center Drive without the tip jar."

A sheriff's helicopter arrived and assisted in the search for Knox by making several announcements in the area, the sergeant said.

Someone reported seeing the suspect near the Vista Library and the helicopter located the suspect walking at Orange Grove and Crescent Drive.

Deputies contacted and detained Knox, who had removed his T-shirt in order to change his appearance, authorities said. The T-shirt Knox allegedly was wearing during the robbery was located and he was identified as a suspect.

Knox was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility at 11:14 a.m. without incident. Bail was set for $100,000 and he was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, according to jail records.

There was no loss to the coffee shop, and no one was injured.
