Braeden Marshall has been a top Pitt target since the early days of his extensive recruiting process, and with his process now nearing its conclusion, Pitt is right there.

Marshall, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound four-star cornerback from Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, Florida, narrowed a previous Top 10 to just five schools: Wisconsin, Nebraska, North Carolina, UCF and Pitt.

With offers from the likes of Arkansas, Clemson, Cincinnati, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Mayland, Miami, Minnesota, Penn State, TCU, Purdue, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, Pitt’s continued dedication to building a bond has been paramount.

“(Pitt was) my second offer, second offer out of 32, and they never hopped off the load,” Marshall told PSN. “They kept recruiting me. It seemed like they kept getting harder and harder on me, and they’ve just sent the love since Day 1. Going up to the game and seeing the game-day atmosphere when they played Clemson, it was a good first impression. That’s what separated them from a lot of schools.”

Marshall made his official visit to Pittsburgh from June 16-18, speaking positively of his extended stay with Pitt, telling Rivals, “I really feel like they are one of the programs that are slept on. They showed everyone in the ACC last year what they can do. They do a great job with their players. Coach (Archie) Collins (DB) showed me a lot on my official visit. He broke down my position during the visit; he can maximize the secondary.”

However, Marshall has also made official visits to hometown UCF (June 3), Wisconsin (June 10), and North Carolina (June 24), and he’s made an unofficial visit out to Lincoln to check out Nebraska.

With a strong relationship built with secondary coach Archie Collins and safeties coach Cory Sanders, Pitt has managed to stand out in a couple of ways. And he’s seen how he could fit into the system.

“I feel like they’re really a team I can see myself playing at,” Marshall said. “I feel like I fit as a player and I fit in their system, scheme-wise, and the education side is bright as well. I feel like I’d get the whole package.”

As an integral defensive back on Lake Mary’s 10-2 season that advanced to the FHSAA Class-8A regional semifinals as a junior, Marshall recorded 28 tackles (13 solo), two tackles for loss, a team-high four interceptions and 11 passes defended. A quick-twitch and speedy, yet extremely physical athlete, he’s exactly what Pitt looks for in its cornerbacks.

247Sports rates Marshall as the 394th-ranked recruit in the class (38th-ranked cornerback and the 69th-ranked recruit from Florida) while On3 rates him as the 422nd-ranked recruit in the class (40th-ranked cornerback and the 78th-ranked recruit from Florida). Rivals rates him as the 34th-ranked cornerback and the 56th-ranked recruit from Florida — holding a 5.8 Rivals rating.

Pitt has secured commitments from three-star cornerbacks Brice Pollock (Snellville, Georgia), Jesse Anderson (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) and Shadarian Harrison (Lakeland, Florida) and Marshall would be a strong addition to the class.

With a commitment date set for July 30, it will come down to the end of the month for the five teams looking to secure his signature.
