CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A driver is dead and three of his passengers are injured following a crash on Colerain Avenue on Sunday, Cincinnati Police say.

Officers responded to the area of Colerain and Virginia avenues around 6:15 p.m.

Police say Jordan Akel was driving a 1998 BMW 328i south on Colerain Avenue when he lost control of the car and hit a utility pole.

Akel was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he died from his injuries, according to a news release from Cincinnati Police.

Autumn Race, the passenger in the front seat, was taken to UCMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

Haley White and Damon Dawson, the rear seat passengers, were also taken to UCMC with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say excessive speed does appear to be a factor in the crash.

They say they have not determined if impairment was a factor as well.

None of the people in the car were wearing seat belts, police say.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
