ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Spectators in Altamonte Springs aren’t letting the possibility of showers rain on their parade.

Red Hot & Boom is back this year, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Clouds have cleared up since the morning, hopefully making way for a fantastic fireworks display.
To celebrate the silver anniversary of the event, the fireworks show will be 25 minutes long. Weather permitting, it will be followed up by a closing musical act.
It has been three years since the last Red Hot and Boom, and people are excited to be back, with the streets packed. The city expects upward of 150,000 people Sunday evening.

Cooling stations have been set up throughout the walkway to help beat the heat.
Police said they’re keeping safety a top priority since it is such a large-scale event.

“This year, we’re collaborating with federal, state and local agencies,” police spokeswoman Michelle Montalvo said. “You will see a heavy presence of uniformed officers, and we will also have some undercover officers throughout the crowds.”
For families stopping by, if you do get separated, there are numbers on every light pole throughout the event. You can track down the nearest officer and use the number to help meet back up with your child.
The fireworks are set to start popping at 9:30 p.m.
