Local highway construction for the week of July 4

Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated by the Ohio Department of Transportation to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties on the week of July 4.

Erie County

SR 2, from Berlin Road to SR 4, will have shoulder closures for bridge painting and repairs. Crews are working at various structures throughout the project limits to complete concrete patching and repair work.

SR 2 will have lane closures for bridge painting at the following locations:

  • The Berlin Road bridge over SR 2
  • The SR 13 bridge over SR 2
  • The Huron-Avery Road bridge over SR 2
  • The U.S. 6 eastbound bridge over SR 2

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on SR 2. There will be no lane closures or impacts on the structures over SR 2.

Estimated completion of entire project: October 2022

Huron County

State Route 61, between Townline Road 12 and Olive Road, will close Tuesday, July 5 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 61 to SR 598, north on SR 598 to SR 103, west on SR 103 to SR 99, north on SR 99 to SR 162, east on SR 162 to SR 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, July 15, 2022

Lorain County

State Route 57 in the village of Grafton, from Mechanic Street to Novak Road, will have periodic lane closures as needed for a streetscape project. Project work includes the realignment of Parsons Road and streetscape work including sidewalk installation, curb bump outs, and pedestrian facilities.

NEW IMPACTS

  • Pavement work will begin on the north side of the starting from Mechanic Street, working north towards the railroad tracks.
  • Curb, driveways, and sidewalks will be formed and have concrete poured starting at Mechanic Street through the downtown area.
  • Two-way traffic will be maintained. Work will be done on one side of the road at a time with flaggers directing traffic.

Estimated completion: October 2022

Ottawa County

State Route 2, between SR 358 and SR 163 (east of Port Clinton), will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through August.

State Route 2, over Cedar Creek between Teachout Rd. and Donovan Rd., Jerusalem Twp., may experience lane restrictions for finish work through June. Lane restrictions are expected on Friday, June 24 for finish work.

Sandusky County

U.S. Route 6, between CR 128 and Brush St., will experience lane restrictions for US 6/US 20/State St. interchange reconfiguration.

Eastbound US 20 ramp to westbound/southbound US 6 will be closed for reconstruction beginning Monday, June 6 through mid-August. Detour: Eastbound CR 20 along W. State St to Oak Harbor Rd. Left on Oak Harbor Rd. to interchange with US 20/US 6. Left on US 20 WB/ US 6 WB/SB.

State Route 19, between TR 127 and TR 83, Fremont, will be closed for two culvert replacements beginning Monday, June 6 through early August. Detour: US 20 to SR 590 to SR 105.

Seneca County

State Route 53, between Highland Park Estates and Cottage Dr., Tiffin, will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing nightly overnight. Estimated completion: November.
