The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of southeastern South Dakota including Sioux Falls, in effect until 7:00 PM Sunday (July 3).

"A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes."

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Southeast South Dakota

   * Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until
     700 PM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible
     Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

   SUMMARY...Initially elevated cells have consolidated into a
   surface-based supercell that may persist southeast across southeast
   South Dakota with a threat for large hail and damaging wind.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40
   statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles east northeast
   of Huron SD to 30 miles south southwest of Sioux Falls SD. For a
