Manchester residents celebrate Independence Day
The city of Manchester held its annual Independence Day celebration at Arms Park on Sunday.
Local businesses told News 9 they were thrilled to make their returns after having to sit out the last few years due to the pandemic.
"It is awesome to be back,” said Maria Hibbert, co-owner of Hibbert’s family business. “It was torturous to sit at home on the third last year and just watch the TV and watch the fireworks. I was like, 'I want to cry – I want to be at the show so bad!'"
"We usually come down here for the fireworks, but today we get to experience selling food and getting to see the fireworks,” said Michel Martin, chef at Dandido Food Truck.
People enjoyed music from the 39th Army Band and some took the time to learn more about Independence Day.
All the activities during the day led up to the big moment – the fireworks.
