A High Ridge man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a traffic accident Saturday, July 2, on Hwy. 30 at West Rock Creek Road in High Ridge in which a 19-year-old Fenton man was injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Shannon Werner, 50, of Fenton was driving a 2006 Chrysler Sebring west on West Rock Creek Road at 8:15 a.m. and had stopped for a steady red stoplight at Hwy. 30. A westbound 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by the 23-year old High Ridge man failed to stop and the front of the Chevrolet hit the rear of the Chrysler. The impact of the crash caused a passenger in the Chevrolet, Daniel Pearson, 19, of Fenton to be thrown out of the car.

Pearson sustained serious injuries and he was taken by North Jefferson Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

An update on his condition was not available.

The report did not mention an injury to either driver.

The High Ridge man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and causing serious physical injury.

He will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
