Countless heads were turned recently when an NY Giants fan claimed, seemingly out of nowhere, that he and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni nearly fought on a tennis court in Haddonfield, N.J. What in the world? The fan in question was a man named Peter, who told his side of the story while on WFAN with Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti.

Per Peter, who was wearing a Yankees shirt and Giants hat, Sirianni called him out and said he took issue with his G-Men gear. Peter added that things got so heated, he thought a fight was going to go down between him and the Eagles head man. According to NBC’s John Clark, things were simply blown out of proportion.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni didn’t try to fight an NY Giants fan

Per Clark, Sirianni was just having a good time with the NY Giants supporter, originally from the Bronx, while the two were next to each other playing tennis. This story seems way more believable than what Peter had to say. Sirianni is the head coach of the Eagles. Did we really think he was going to put his job at stake to try and stick it to someone rocking a Giants hat? No chance.

If you take a look on social media, people were questioning this story from the start, which isn’t hard to believe. Peter from Maple Shade, N.J. was able to fool some people with his tale, but Sirianni’s camp was quick to squash the rumors and make sure people in New York, New Jersey and all over Philly knew what actually went down.

The Giants-Eagles rivalry is one of the biggest in the NFC and it’s no secret that there’s plenty of bad blood between the two fanbases. However, Sirianni isn’t going to take things over the top and he most definitely isn’t going to blast the organization and new head coach Brian Daboll out in public, which is what Peter claimed.

Now that everything has been set straight, people can move on with their lives and the Eagles/Giants can get ready for training camp later this month. Once these two teams do face off this fall, though, it’s safe to say that Peter will be hoping that the Giants put on a clinic and deliver Sirianni a defeat in both meetings.
