NJ house fire kills 2, firetruck crashes on way to the scene

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A Readington Township house fire killed two people Sunday morning, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

The blaze started around 5:47 a.m. on the 600 block of County Road 523, officials said.

A fire truck reportedly crashed into a pond as it rushed to the scene, according to RLS Media.

No one was seriously injured in the crash.

Authorities are withholding the names of the people who died in the fire pending notification of their families.

The local fire and police departments are investigating the cause of the fire.
