COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - One person is dead following an hours-long standoff in Old Colorado City Sunday.

Police say they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers responded to a 911 call just after 7:30 a.m. regarding a domestic disturbance at a home on Landis Court just off of 19th Street. The caller told police she was being assaulted and threatened with a gun. When officers pulled up, they found a distressed woman standing in the front yard and saw a man walking back into the house.

For the next several hours, police tried to contact the man to no avail. SWAT was called to the scene, and officers worked on securing a search warrant for the home. Neighbors living in the general vicinity were advised to stay inside as a precaution while the standoff went on. A police lieutenant told 11 News that while there had been no threats made towards law enforcement or neighbors, the suspect had reportedly threatened to kill the woman and then himself.

After several hours, SWAT went into the home and found the suspect’s body. As of this writing, his identity has not been released.
