A single engine plane crashed Friday afternoon near a small airstrip on SR 26 near MP 104, said Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers in a press release.
His office along with Washington State Patrol and local emergency crews from the Lacrosse area responded.
Initial reports indicated Kevin Kennedy, 65 years old of Arlington, WA was flying from Arlington to Colfax.
Emergency responders received the call around 2:00 p.m. when his single engine plane lost power and subsequently crashed, Myers said.
Kennedy sustained serious injuries and was flown from the crash site to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane via Life Flight. His current condition is not known due to privacy laws.
No other passengers were on board at the time of the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will be conducting a joint investigation into the cause of this accident.
