PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a shooting at a bar that left two people dead.

Police say around 1:30 Sunday morning, officers responded to a bar and grill near 48th Street and McDowell Road for a report of a shooting.

They arrived and found a man, 35-year-old Jordan Davis, with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Another man, 34-year-old Daniel Stuart, arrived at a hospital later in the morning with multiple gunshot wounds. He also died at the hospital.

Police say Davis was a security guard at the bar and he and Stuart were in a physical fight.

Davis refused Stuart entry into the bar, according to police, and Stuart left the area before police arrived.

“This just happened to be the place he was working last night, and it happened to be his last night unfortunately,” said a woman who told ABC15 she was the mother of Davis.

“I rushed down here I was here within 10 minutes,” said the woman.

But she said she didn’t get to the scene in time to ride with her son to the hospital.

She said he was an entrepreneur and was involved with several businesses in the Valley.

“He was really trying to make it a better place, a better environment,” said the woman.

As she and her family are left grieving, the mom is frustrated with the lack of answers.

A second security guard, whose identity hasn't been released, was detained by police but has since been interviewed and released.
