Suspect dead after standoff in Old Colorado City neighborhood

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is dead after a standoff that began Sunday morning in the Old Colorado City neighborhood. According to Colorado Springs Police, a man had threatened to kill a woman in the front yard of a home on Landis Court.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, a woman was still in the front yard and the suspect walked back inside the home and barricaded himself. At that point, officers believed they had probable cause to arrest the man for domestic violence.

Police say that they attempted to make contact with the man but there was no communication back on the other end.

At 1:30, a tactical unit went into the home and found an unresponsive man. Police believe the man may have taken his own life.

CSPD told KRDO that the victim is safe.
