More than 5,000 people turned out to watch the 159th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
Event organizers say numbers are up from previous years, when COVID stopped many people from attending.
“People were dying to get out after covid. So it’s been a big uptick in the July 4 weekend in the amount of people coming out. Just looking around it doesn’t look like The economy or gas prices has made a difference in this.” said Rich Burnette, a volunteer with the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association.
800 reenactors will take part in the reenactment. The event ends Sunday.
