Patric Young is currently recovering in South Dakota after he was injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday in Nebraska, where his fiancé, Whitney Abbott, is from.

The former Florida Gators hoops star shared updates on his status Sunday morning.

“First thing I want to say is Praise God for life! My accident was no surprise to God and I will continue to praise Yahweh everyday of my life. The love and support I’ve received from everyone has been tremendous. I’m currently in South Dakota (got to see Cody Larson),” Young posted in the first of three tweets.

“Continue to keep my family and myself in your prayers. My biggest request is for my mind to stay strong against the enemy, I believe anything is possible with God. His Will for my life is what I want to live in, I will use this test to inspire others no matter what.

“Don’t take any moment or day for granted! I will strive to keep you guys updated. I am so thankful to have a mom that has been an ICU nurse for over 25 years and my sister that has been a PT for 7. If you have my fathers contact into please reach out and give him a call or a text.”

According to the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan, Patric Young was injured on Wednesday morning near Verdigre, Nebraska and did not have on a seat belt. Here are the details from the accident report.

Young was unfamiliar with the roadway and, upon approaching the intersection, started to apply his brakes. Young didn’t believe he would be able to stop in time and turned to his left, causing the pickup to lose traction and slide sideways across 881 Road. After crossing the roadway, the pickup rolled over once and settled on its wheels. Young and another individual subsequently contacted Knox County authorities.

Young did not have a seat belt on during the rollover accident and was subsequently transported to Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls. There was no indication of injuries to the passenger.

Lawyer Darren Heitner tweeted that he spoke Sunday morning to Young, who is “recovering and in good spirits.” Heitner said Young was still in South Dakota waiting to be transferred to Denver.
