MLB betting markets and odds at FanDuel Sportsbook: Sunday, 7/3

The Astros host the Angels on Sunday. Houston is a -235 money line favorite, while the -1.5 run line carries -120 odds. A $235 stake profits $100 on the Astros to win by any amount, while a $120 bet on their run line returns $100 of winnings if they can beat LA by two or more runs. Los Angeles has +194 money line odds and the +1.5 run line has +100 odds.

The second prediction involves the Mariners, who are -152 money line favorites against the Athletics. Oakland’s money line odds are +128, so a $100 successful bet on the A’s profits $128. A $152 stake on the Mariners returns $100 of profits if they pick up the win.

Let’s dive into both plays and why you should back the Astros and Mariners at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston Astros run line prediction: Astros -1.5 (-113)

The Astros can sweep the Angels with a win on Sunday afternoon, and we predict they can do just that. José Suarez starts for the Angels and carries a 4.36 ERA in 33.0 innings of work. He faced the Astros earlier this season in a 4-1 loss and has struggled on the road this season. Additionally, outside of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout the Angels’ lineup does not threaten opposing pitchers. Houston starting pitcher Framber Valdez should have no issue shutting down LA.

Valdez is 8-3 with a 2.65 ERA and is coming off a 9-1 win over the New York Mets in which he pitched 8.0 innings and didn’t allow a single run. Valdez has faced the Angeles twice this season with varying results. LA scored six runs on Houston’s ace in 4.1 innings in his last appearance; we expect Valdez to seek revenge today. The Astros are 14-4 against Los Angeles in the last 18 head-to-head meetings and 12 of their last 15 victories have come by multiple runs. They have outscored LA by 15 runs in the first two games of this series, and we predict that trend will continue on Sunday.

Oakland Athletics vs. Seattle Mariners money line prediction: Mariners ML (-152)

The Athletics battle the Mariners Sunday afternoon in a pitching rematch between two aces. Seattle’s Robbie Ray and Oakland’s Frankie Montas faced off on June 23 in a game that ended in a 2-1 Mariners win. Ray has particularly come together after a slow start to the season; the left-hander has a 0.67 ERA and 28 strikeouts in his last four starts. Additionally, he has been even better at home – where Ray carries a 2.45 ERA and 0.85 WHIP compared to his 5.24 ERA and 1.47 WHIP on the road. Last week’s matchup was in Oakland. Ray allowed just one run and we expect him to be just as effective on Sunday.

Montas has been fantastic this season, but the Athletics’ lineup hasn’t given him much support. Oakland has scored no more than one run in nine of Montas’ 13 starts and ranks 26th in MLB in batting average and 27th in OPS on the road. Seattle is 17-3 in its last 20 meetings with Oakland and the A’s have shown no sign of turning things around in this series. Therefore we predict the Mariners can take the finale on Sunday afternoon.
