July 4th falls on a Monday this year, meaning people around the country can enjoy a long weekend. Of course, that also means various government services here in the Orange County will be interrupted from their regular service patterns.

Here’s a list of what services will be altered this weekend throughout Orange County:

Town of Chapel Hill

All Chapel Hill administrative offices will be closed on Monday.

Residential trash, commercial trash and curbside recycling will not be collected, with all recycling routes delayed by one day. The residential trash make-up day is Wednesday, July 6. Yard waste collection will not be affected. In addition, the Orange County landfill and other waste collection centers will be closed.

The Chapel Hill Public Library will also be closed on Monday, and Chapel Hill Transit will not operate, with the exception of a shuttle service from Jackson Deck on the UNC campus and Southern Village for the night’s fireworks show. For more information on that, click here.

All Chapel Hill public parks, greenways and playgrounds will be open. For more information on Chapel Hill closures, click here.
