Woman pronounced dead following Bass Lake incident

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. — A woman was pronounced dead following an incident at Bass Lake Saturday afternoon.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to the lake shortly after 5 p.m. When they arrived, a woman was receiving CPR from good Samaritans as she was not breathing.

Cal Fire took over the medical aid but was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, the woman was wearing a life jacket and said she did not go underwater.

Her official cause of death is still being investigated and will be determined by the Coroner’s Office.
