TRAVELED TO ORLANDO, FLORIDA LAST MONTH TO COMPETE IN THE US SPECIAL OLYMPICS AND ONE OF THOSE ATHLETES WAS FREMONT’S HENRY BISHOP THE 17 YEAR OLD MAKING QUITE A SPLASH IN THE SWIMMING COMPETITION WHILE REPRESENTING NEBRASKA ON ONE OF THE SPORTS BIGGEST STAGES. LIKE MOST KIDS HENRY BISHOP LOVED SPENDING TIME IN THE POOL AT THE AGE OF 10. HE BEGAN SWIMMING FOR THE FREMONT SPECIAL OLYMPICS TEAM UNDER HEAD COACH D CHRISTENSEN HILLIS, HE CAME TO THE PROGRAM A LITTLE SHY LITTLE RESERVED, BUT I COULD SEE THE TALENT WHEN HE GOT IN THE WATER AND SEEMED TO ENJOY IT HENRY WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ASPERGER’S SYNDROME BETWEEN THE AGES OF TWO AND THREE AS HE GOT OLDER SWIM. CAME HIS FAVORITE HOBBY. I DID NOT HAVE SPIRIT AS MUCH AS I DO NOW. I JUST LOVE THAT I GET TO STRIP. I JUST GET THAT EXERCISE WHILE STILL HAVING. UP THE THOUGHT OF COMPETING IN THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS. NEVER CROSSED HENRY OR HIS FAMILY’S MIND. IN FACT, IT WASN’T UNTIL BACK IN 2020 WHEN HENRY’S COACH NOMINATED HIM THAT THE IDEA CAME TO BE. THIS WAS MY NEXT OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE HENRY BE ABLE TO PROVE TO HIMSELF WHAT HE COULD DO. ONLY JUNE HENRY TRAVELED TO ORLANDO, FLORIDA AS ONE OF FOUR SWIMMERS REPRESENTING TEAM, NEBRASKA. HE COMPETED IN THE 4 BY 50 METER RELAY 100 METER FREE STYLE AND 200-METER FREESTYLE FINISHING 7TH IN THE 100 WHILE WINNING BRONZE IN THE RELAY AND GOLD IN THE 200. WELL, IT ADDS TO THE EGO. I’LL TELL YOU THAT BUT IT IS A BIG HONOR NONETHELESS. JUST WATCHING AM EXCEL AND SMILE AND HAVE A GOOD TIME THAT JUST MADE IT ALL WORTHWHILE. HENRY’S NOT YOUR AVERAGE SOON TO BE HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, BUT HE STILL REMAINS HUMBLE AND WANTS OTHERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TO KNOW THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. THEY PUT THEIR MINDS TO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS THEN JUST GO FOR IT BEFORE YOU TEST BEFORE YOU MISS YOUR CHANCE. LIKE EMINEM SAID IF YOU HAVE IF YOU HAD ONE CHANCE TO HA
