The Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy is pleased to announce Class 1-22 as the 58th class to complete this West Virginia National Guard Program.
Commencement exercises were held June 17 at Camp Dawson in Kingwood.
A total of 64 graduates from 23 counties across the state of West Virginia successfully completed the requirements for graduation.
CMSgt. Brandon Ives congratulated the cadets and gave the commencement address.
The following cadets participated from Harrison County:
Cadet Michael Frazier Jr., son of Ashley Frazier and Patrick Butcher of Lost Creek, was in Platoon 2. Cadet Frazier was recognized for receiving the Cadre Distinction Award, Level One PT(3), Mentorship, S2C Award, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.
During his time at the academy, Cadet Frazier served in the following leadership positions: Asst. Plt Leader, Color Guard.
Cadet Xavier Johnson, son of Cassandra Campbell of Salem, was in Platoon 2. Cadet Johnson was recognized for receiving the Highest Academic Points (3), Honors List, Instructor’s List (4), as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons. During his time at the academy, Cadet Johnson served in the following leadership positions: Color Guard.
Cadet Nathan Price, brother of Emily Price and grandson of the late Barbara Price of Clarksburg, was in Platoon 3. Cadet Price was recognized for receiving the Deputy Director’s Distinction Award, Commandant’s Cup, Most Improved Cadet Award, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons. During hie time at the academy, Cadet Price served in the following leadership positions: Color Guard, Asst. Plt Leader.
Cadet Bronislaw Szulc Jr., son of Bronislaw Szulc and Lena Gamble of Salem and Joanne Viera of Massachusetts, was in Platoon 4. Cadet Szulc was recognized for receiving the Instructor’s List (2), Overall Most Improved, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons. During his time at the academy, Cadet Szulc served in the following leadership positions: Color Guard.
Cadet Sierra Walls, daughter of Wesley and Christa Walls of Clarksburg, was in Platoon 4. Cadet Walls was recognized for receiving the Honors List, Instructor’s List, Mentorship, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons. During her time at the academy, Cadet Walls served in the following leadership positions: Color Guard.
