Citizens celebrate the Independence Day weekend across the metro, despite rainy weather
The Fourth of July weekend is lighting up Jackson and the surrounding cities.
Residents were pumped up about all the events taking place.
"They're excited about the fireworks show. You guys excited? Yes," said Shundra Benson.
Saturday brought in scattered showers, but people gathered rain or shine to enjoy the evening.
"To have a good time, although it's raining, we're still going to have a good time and see the fireworks show. I hope it stops raining so we can see the fireworks show and have a good time out here," said Kizzie Coleman.
Jackson's annual Firework Extravaganza began with child-friendly activities and food vendors.
It ended with their own fireworks show at the Smith-Wills Stadium.
Canton continues to celebrate its Balloon Festival at their multipurpose center through Sunday.
Clinton will celebrate its 32nd Red, White and Blues Show at Traceway Park, and there will be fireworks at the Mississippi Braves Stadium in Pearl on Monday.
