Officers said that 28-year-old Trey Roberts, the driver who caused the accident, fled the scene on foot, and eventually found a ride to his home in Cedar Creek.
He had two passengers in the vehicle during the crash, resulting in one's ejection from the vehicle — this passenger suffered a broken right hip and is in stable condition.
Police say that Roberts re-entered Hwy 50 after driving recklessly in a gravel parking lot, colliding with 82-year-old Dean Timmerman.
Timmerman suffered chest bruising and a forearm laceration, and is in stable condition.
Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office eventually located Roberts at his home in Cedar Creek, uninjured, and transported him to the Sarpy County Jail.
He was charged with driving under the influence first offense; driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury; willful reckless driving; failure to yield; leaving the scene of an accident with injuries; and failure to use seatbelt.
Hwy 50 was shut down for nearly three hours as a result of the accident and following investigation.
