CHARLESTON, Ore. -- Abandoned and derelict waterway vessels are a $40-million problem in Oregon. That amount is the price assigned this summer to remove those boats. This week the State Land Board received an update about plans to request $40-million for their removal, which it considers a focus in coming months. In June, the State Land Board directed the Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) to request $40-million in general funds during the state budget process for removing hundreds of commercial and recreational abandoned and derelict vessels littering Oregon’s waterways.

McKinney Fire at 55% containment as community meets for updates

Police: raid on illegal grow turned up over 16,000 illegal marijuana plants in east Medford
MEDFORD, Ore. – A multi-agency team of police served a search warrant on a black market marijuana grow site on Wednesday morning, which turned up nearly 17,000 illegal cannabis plants that were housed in 87 hoop-style greenhouses, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. On scene, one subject was detained, interviewed, and released. Detectives identified the primary suspects and charges are pending from the Jackson County District Attorney's office. The grow took up 5 1/2 acres of property near the 9000 block of Hillcrest Road east of Medford.

Douglas County deputies searching for missing woman and her cousin
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Delmagene Elvira Smith, 20, also known as “Dallas.”. The DCSO says Smith was last seen leaving her residence in the evening of August 7. Officials say her vehicle was found abandoned on Cow Creek Road on August 8.
