In Beaufort, some boaters are deciding to stay put until they get more updates on the weather ahead of Tropical Storm Colin.
They have been docked for hours as they wait to see if they are all clear as the storm moves through.
Boaters said they've experienced a bit of wind, a few drops of rain and some choppy water.
Mark Knutsen is traveling from Florida to Virginia.
"We're scheduled to go to Virginia Beach tomorrow, the last leg of our trip and the thing that concerns me the most is the wind and the waves," Knutsen said.
For other boaters in the area, they said they are staying put and playing it safe.
"As a boater, safety is first. You want to consider all of the options and you want to really read your weather," Dr. Norbert Velazquez said.
Velazquez said he's thankful he has a backup plan if the weather gets more serious.
If I can, I will tow it out of the water, take it all the way to Greenville or just leave it on a trailer somewhere safe," Knutsen said.
Knutsen said he will continue to monitor the weather conditions and make a decision by Sunday morning on whether or not he will continue traveling by boat to Virginia Beach.
