Police say the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation
Burlington police are investigating a late-night shooting that put one man in the hospital.
Acting Chief of Police Jon Murad says the police department got the call around 1:30 a.m. on Friday from UVM medical center after a man came in with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police tried to get a statement from the victim, but they say he was uncooperative. Further investigation showed the victim was visiting a family member near Pearl Street and Winooski Avenue but left the apartment to meet someone he knew.
The family member heard the gunshot, went outside, and found the victim bleeding. He was taken to the hospital.
The police department found the victim had a pre-existing arrest warrant for the sale of cocaine. He was taken into custody.
Murad says the investigation is in its earliest stages.
