The Newark Morning Rotary recently honored the following individuals and a Newark company.
Bill Moore – Ray Civatte Community Service Award
Presented annually to a non-Rotarian from the community who has given their time and talents to live the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.
Bill Moore served as a volunteer coach for Newark American Little League for more than 30 years.
Bill also served for six years on Newark’s Board of Adjustments, approving or rejecting petitions from residents to implement projects that have a variance from city codes.
Trevor McNabb – Public Service Award
Presented to a non-Rotarian in the public service sector (fire, police, paramedics) who showed extraordinary dedication to serving our community
Trevor McNabb, 22, was a volunteer Assistant Chief for Singerly Fire Company when he passed away in his sleep following a shift. While still in high school Trevor found his calling in Emergency Services, obtaining multiple certifications from Delaware State Fire School as well as becoming an Emergency Medical Responder, serving at many fire stations in the region. His posthumous award of $250 went to the Trevor McNabb Scholarship Fund.
Bloom Energy – Spirit in Business Award
Presented to a local business that exhibits the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, in high ethical standards and values
Bloom Energy is laying an increasingly impactful role in the Newark community. Since 2012 Bloom Energy has built a manufacturing center in Newark, created more than 500 well-paying jobs, and is bringing cleaner energy in the State of Delaware.
Bloom is developing academic partnerships with the University of Delaware and Delaware Tech for workforce development, as well as partnering with Jewish Family Services to provide opportunities for refugees. A military-friendly employer, Bloom’s employees are increasingly involved in many charitable projects in the area
