Make it five straight days of commitments for Virginia Tech as the Hokies gained a commitment from three-star ATH Tralon Mitchell out of North Carolina.
Mitchell chose the Hokies over East Carolina where he took an official visit on the third weekend of June prior to his VT official visit plus Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, and UCONN. He is the first commit from the state of North Carolina and the second true athlete along with three-star Takye Heath. Dante Lovett is also listed as an athlete by some though he will be very likely be a cornerback for Tech.
Mitchell may not have a lot of offers, but he was clearly someone who Tech was impressed with likely due in large part to his impressive speed. He's an intriguing prospect who plays RB in high school, but could be a RB or WR in part due to his size at 6'2'' along with that speed that would fit well outside of the backfield.
Mitchell also gives Tech some momentum in North Carolina on the recruiting trail especially as they're battling UNC for four-star WR Chris Culliver and N.C. State for three-star OL Kamen Smith.
We will have more as this story develops.
