Business notebook: Abilene dentist named vice president of state association

The Texas Dental Association, which represents more than 8,000 members around the state, announced in a news release Monday that Dr. Teri Lovelace, of Abilene, has been elected vice president of its 2022-23 board of directors, in her third year of a three-year term.

Lovelace, a periodontist, received a doctorate of dental surgery from UTHealth San Antonio in 1994 after studying at the University of Texas at Austin.

Lovelace served on three TDA councils from 2004-2009 and on the TDA's political action committee from 2007-2009. She was president of the 17th District Dental Society from 2004-2005.

Food manager training

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a two-day professional food manager certification training course Aug. 15 and 16 at the Taylor County Extension Office, 1982 Lytle Way.

The course will cover foodborne illnesses and food safety regulations, and will include the ANSI-CFP Accredited Certified Professional Food Manager exam.

Donald Eason joins Herald of Truth Board

Herald of Truth Ministries Inc. announced in a news release Thursday that Donald T. Eason, MPA, has been elected to its board of directors, where he will serve a three-year with 12 other board members.

Eason, who has been a minister for more than 25 years, is currently an adjunct professor at Jackson College in Jackson, Michigan. From 2019-20, he was senior minister at Higby Street Church of Christ in Jackson, Michigan, and was Michigan Field Representative on the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C.

Visitors bureau sales director receives tourism certification

Tiffany Nichols, sales and sports director with the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau, recently received the Certified Tourism Executive designation from Travel & Tourism College, a certification program offered by the Texas Travel Alliance to travel and tourism professionals.

In addition to attending courses on marketing, leadership and management over three years, Nichols completed a required capstone project, choosing to focus on the ACVB's Music Friendly Designation, Abilene Centerstage.
