A police department in Maryland said they are investigating after men, appearing to be their officers in uniform, allegedly took part in a now-viral video that shows them spraying down two women at a car wash.

The La Plata Police Department released the following statement on June 27 on their Facebook page:

The La Plata Police Department is examining the facts of a June 26, 2022 video posted on social media at a La Plata car wash which allegedly involves our police officers. Once we have all the facts involving our police officers, the department will issue an official public statement.”

The investigation comes after the video, which was posted on Facebook on June 26, shows two women on the hood of a vehicle at a car wash and several people in police uniforms around it. One man in a uniform can be seen holding a water hose.

It's not clear if the individuals involved are really officers.

The video had more than 85,000 views as of Wednesday morning.

Several comments under the post say the video filmed was a "behind the scenes" of a Tik Tok video the women were making.
