ALTERNATE ROUTE THIS EVENING. FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HIT A PEDESTRIAN OUT IN OCALA AND FLED THE SCENE. FHP BELIEVES THAT SOMEONE DRIVING A GRAY SEDAN HIT THE PEDESTRIAN ON STATE ROAD 40 NEAR SOUTHWEST 57th AVENUE. THE CAR WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE HEADING WEST. THE PEDESTRIAN DIED AT THE SCENE. FHP SAYS THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE DAMAGE ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THAT HIT-AND-RUN, YOU'RE ASKED TO CALLED THE MARION COUNTY CRIME STOPPER

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Ocala Saturday morning. Troopers say they responded to State Road 40 near Southwest 57th Avenue and the incident occurred around 5 a.m. The pedestrian was a 29-year-old man, and according to troopers, while a vehicle was in an outside, westbound lane, he was struck. The man was pronounced dead. At this time, troopers believe the vehicle involved was a dark gray sedan and has damage on the front right.
