LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Farmville Police Department arrested two men Friday evening in relation to Wednesday night’s shooting in Lynchburg that sent a teenager to the hospital.

At approximately 5:03 p.m. on Friday, July 1, Farmville officers were discharged to the Super 8 by Windham Farmville, located at 2012 S. Main Street, in response to a report of suspicious activity, the Lynchburg Police Department says.

Upon arrival, Farmville officers located 44-year-old Richard McDaniel and 41-year-old Taurus McDaniel, both from Lynchburg, in the hotel parking lot. Both men were arrested without incident and taken to Piedmont Regional Jail, where they are currently being held without bond.

Both men are facing the following charges after a 16-year-old boy was found shot in the leg in the 2200 block of Poplar Street in Lynchburg on Wednesday, June 29:

  • Armed robbery
  • Malicious wounding
  • Shooting from a vehicle
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony

The Lynchburg Police Department thanked the Farmville Police Department, the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office, and the Piedmont Regional Jail for their efforts in this case.

As of this writing, the investigation into Wednesday’s shooting is still ongoing.
