UPDATE: Woman killed in early-morning Peoria shooting identified, suspect arrested

UPDATE: The identity of Saturday morning’s homicide victim is now released.

According to a release from Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, 21-year-old Mariah Faith Moss of the same address, suffered a single gunshot wound to her upper body, and likely died instantly.

PEORIA (25 News Now) - One woman is dead and another woman has been arrested after a fatal shooting early Saturday morning.

24-year-old Kaitlyn S. Taylor was arrested for first-degree murder and transported to the Peoria County Jail after police responded to the shooting in the 300 block of South Sterling.

Police say it happened around 4:19 a.m. They were advised that an adult female caller was requesting help from police and upon arrival, officers found a female shot inside a home.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, and after an investigation, Taylor was identified, questioned and arrested.

Police say information regarding the victim, as well as the manner and cause of death, will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.

As of Saturday afternoon, Taylor is still in custody and will appear in bonding court on Tuesday.
