NILES CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police have discovered the body of a man who had been missing out of Niles since Saturday.

John Charles Robertson’s body was found in the St. Joseph river near Buchanan on Monday, said MSP in a tweet around 2 p.m. Deputies said no foul play was suspected.

Robertson, 28, had last been seen on Hickory Street between 7th and 9th Streets. He was described as a white man around 5′ 10″ and 145 pounds.

His car was found Saturday on US-31 northbound, just north of Niles Buchanan Road on the bridge over the St. Joseph River. The key was left in the ignition and his phone had been left at an adult foster care home. Robertson had threatened suicide, MSP said.

Police had issued an endangered missing alert around 1 p.m. on Saturday.
