Pottstown gears up for July 4th fun

Parade starts at 10:15 a.m.; Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

POTTSTOWN — It’s almost time for the fireworks folks.

They will be held at 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

Did you know you can get premium parking for the fireworks? It costs $25 per car load of people, so pick someone with a big car.

Those with a premium parking pass can park as soon as the Fireworks Party starts at 5pm. Tickets are on sale at the website – www.pottstowngofourth.com.

Wait, did you just read the words “Fireworks Party?” Yes gentle reader, you did.

The Fireworks Party is from 5 p.m. to 9:15 and will feature; a DJ, inflatables for the kids, a Sly Fox beer garden, and food vendors.

The Rotary Club’s Independence Day Parade and the Pottstown GoFourth extravaganza will kick off at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 4th, and will travel west down High Street, beginning at Adams Street (near the Post Office) and ending at Manatawny Street.

The Street Festival will be held on High Street between Charlotte and York streets. There will be a kid’s zone at the clocktower at Charlotte Street with kids activities from Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center, and games by Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Judy Tudy the Clown’s magic show.

The entertainment will begin in Smith Family Plaza at 11 a.m. after the parade.

The Duck Race will be held at High and Hanover Street Duck Race Tickets will be available for sale before, during and after the Parade. Sales of the Duck Race tickets benefit thirty community organizations to help with their causes. Prizes will be awarded to holders of the winning certificate. Last year, the Rotary Club gave more than $10,000 to these participating groups and agencies on a pro-rata basis.

According to the GoFourth website, the line-up includes Brian Fitzy, the Hannah Violet Trio, Hector Rosado Y Orchestra Hache and Gala Mode. A pre-fireworks party will be held in Memorial Park from 5:15 to 9 p.m. with Q-Ball serving as DJ. There will also be inflatables to play on, and a Sly Fox beer tent.

There will also be food trucks and vendors.

Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
