The Grand Rapids Griffins have signed former Michigan State goaltender John Lethemon to a one-year contract.

Lethemon, a native of Northville, Mich., went 15-11-6, with a 2.69 goals-against average and .911 save percentage for ECHL Greenville Swamp Rabbits in 2021-22.

He will compete for one of two roster spots on the Griffins with Victor Brattstrom, newly signed Jussi Olkinuora and possibly 2021 15th overall pick Sebastian Cossa, if he turns pro. If Lethemon doesn’t earn an AHL job he’ll be assigned to ECHL Toledo.

The 6-3, 196-pound Lethemon, 25, went 2-0 (2.01 GAA, .931 save percentage) in his AHL debut last season with the Ontario Reign.

Lethemon went 28-16-11 with a 2.70 GAA and a .908 save percentage in two seasons with Greenville.
