BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead in Botetourt County on Friday.

According to Virginia State Police, on Friday, July 1 at 5:10 p.m., a 2015 Nissan Versa was traveling south on Route 11 near Kessler Lane when the driver crossed the solid double yellow line and struck a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado head-on.

The Nissan’s driver, 63-year-old Linda Watson Wickline of Buchanan, was wearing her seat belt when she crashed into the Chevrolet’s driver, 23-year-old Noah A. Gilliam, also of Buchanan, authorities say.

Officials say Wickline died at the scene of the collision, but Gilliam, who was also wearing his seat belt, was brought to Roanoke Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
