Once the OFR units arrived on scene, crew members found the worker whose hand was entrapped in a conveyor belt on top of a train car.

Crews began their rescue efforts by ensuring that the equipment was powered down. The firefighters then used specialized tools from Engine 3 and Tower 1 to disassemble and remove parts of the conveyor belt system while crew members from Rescue 3 provided medical care.

The worker was freed from the machinery within 14 minutes of OFR’s arrival on scene.

After lowering the worker to ground level, Marion County Fire Rescue transported the worker to a local hospital for further treatment.

No other injuries were reported.
