Ginny Marie Drake was born to Allen and Jewell Drake on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the youngest of three children arriving as a little surprise with a 15 and 17-year age gap between her older brothers, Don and Ray. Living on the banks of Lake Worth, Ginny could always be found swimming, fishing, or hosting tea parties with her cousins for their Madame Alexander dolls. While attending high school she also attended Rutherford Metropolitan Business School and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in May 1964. Soon after graduation, she married Rick Norris and they had two children, Kristin and Kirk. While in Fort Worth, Ginny worked at Radio Shack, a division of Tandy Corporation in the executive offices with her last position being secretary to the vice-president controller.

The family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1972 and were members of the First Presbyterian Church. Ginny was an active member always serving others. She taught Sunday school, was a sponsor for the youth, and served as secretary for the Christian education director. Her ministry also included Board of Deacons, Leadership Teams, and serving in the Presbyterian Women’s Association. On the Board of Deacons, Ginny chaired the Member Assistance Committee and assisted in the meals for the bereaved along with coordinating the visitation and nurturing of homebound members. Ginny’s vitality and ingenuity resulted in a new and different experience for the homebound members, such as photographs of the church and congregation, special treats, and cards. She brought her gift of sewing to many of the banners displayed in the halls of her church home. She was a leader to Kristin and friends within the scope of the Camp Fire Girls of America promoting service-learning and leadership experiences in her home after school. She also served as den mother in the Boys Scouts of America program for Kirk and his friends at Woodlands Elementary School. She served her community well in different board roles for The Newcomer’s Club of Ponca City and Ponca City Parks and Recreation.

In April 1983, Ginny married Mike Cagley, and crossed back over the Red River to Texas where she established her own business called, “Ginny Marie’s” in Old Town Spring. In her craft store, shoppers could find and purchase all kinds of crafts personally sewn and made by her along with wood products crafted by Mike. In the early 90’s, they decided to go back to Ponca City where Mike was able to transfer his employment with Conoco to the Ponca City location. They both loved supporting The Quarterback Club as Mike’s son, Mark played Ponca City Wildcat football. While working for Dr. Carter’s office in the optometry area, Ginny was able to be “Mimi” and care for her first granddaughter, Kelli on Thursday afternoons.

During the 90’s, Mike and Ginny remained active and served at the First Presbyterian Church until it was necessary for home care for Mike’s mother and dad. At the time, Ginny brought her love and passion for serving others directly within the home caring for both Mike’s mother and father for several years prior to their passing. Mike and Ginny made another trek down to Texas and resided in Canyon Lake for several years where they found a host of loving neighbor friendships. In 2015, they again made Ponca City their home. As Mike’s health declined, Ginny was adamant she could be trained for his procedures needed at the time and cared for him at home until his passing on March 4, 2019. She served her husband sacrificially and gratefully well.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Ginny departed this life at their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 and is now at home with her heavenly Father.

Ginny is survived by her children: Kristin Rein and her husband, Tim of Pottsboro, Texas; Kirk Norris and his wife, Staci of Spring, Texas; Mark Cagley and his wife, Keri of Edmond, Oklahoma; as well as her grandchildren: Kelli Bradshaw, Kimberly Rein and Carson Rein, Max Norris, Andrew Cagley and Morgan Cagley; along with 3 greatgrandchildren: Cooper, Case, and Colton Bradshaw.

In the fall of 2022, the family is planning a private celebration for both Ginny and Mike which will honor their wishes of their ashes being buried together at the Drake/Barton family burial plots in Granbury, Texas.
