Tropical Storm Colin forms near Myrtle Beach, no major impacts to Greenville, Upstate

Tropical Storm Colin has formed inland over Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as maximum sustained winds could exceed 40 miles per hour, alongside thunderstorms and heavy rain.

A tropical storm warning has been issued by the National Hurricane Center as far westward as South Santee River, and into northeast North Carolina. 

Tropical Storm Colin is not expected to impact the Upstate, however, rain and thunderstorms will be present here throughout the holiday weekend.

Greenville has a 60% chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday.  

Rain and strong winds are expected in Myrtle Beach through the afternoon, with the most significant impacts after about 3 p.m. and into the night. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast there through the weekend.

Although the storm warning says winds up to 57 mph are possible in the warning area, the strongest winds are expected to peak around 30 mph in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding communities, according to the forecast.

Tropical Storm Warnings are issued when weather conditions are expected somewhere in a designated area within a 36 hour timeframe.

The storm is headed northeast, and is expected to move away from the Carolinas on Sunday.
