STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The ex-boyfriend of the 20-year-old Elm Park woman who was fatally shot while walking her baby in a stroller in Manhattan, has been charged with her murder, police announced Friday night.

Isaac Argro, 22, of Brooklyn, has also been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting of Azsia Johnson, according to an NYPD spokesperson. He had been named a person of interest in the Wednesday incident by police.

Argro, who lives on East New York Avenue, is the father of the victim’s 3-month-old baby.

Johnson reportedly was a prior victim of domestic violence and most recently had been living in a victim’s shelter near where she was killed. Argro allegedly had abused and stalked Johnson in the past, according to the New York Post.

NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell announced the arrest in a tweet Friday night.

The 20-year-old victim had reportedly texted relatives she was planning to meet with her baby’s dad on Wednesday night so they could talk some things out, a police source told the Daily News.

Johnson was fatally shot around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street on the Upper East Side, according to a statement from the NYPD. EMS responded and transported her to NYC Health & Hospitals/Metropolitan where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation determined that Johnson was walking her 3-month-old child when an unknown person approached her and fired a single shot into her head from a very close range.

In a GoFundMe post raising money for her family, organizer Sharon Bell identifies herself as Johnson’s cousin.

“As you can imagine, my family and I are absolutely devastated and we remain in a state of shock. She leaves behind two beautiful children. Her oldest child is 1 year old and her youngest is 3 months old,” the post reads.

Johnson’s heartbroken mother, Lisa Desort, told NBC that her daughter was working toward being a pediatric nurse and was on maternity leave from her job as a home health aide.
