Bus commuters throughout Pasadena are lucky to be the first people to see student artwork on display at bus shelters across the City – part of the Pasadena Arts and Culture Commission’s “Bridging Boundaries” exhibition.

The artwork was selected from the Pasadena Unified School District’s district-wide student art project called “No Boundaries” which is now in its 17th year.

The 2022 “No Boundaries” exhibition opened at the Paseo Colorado in time for Spring ArtNight in April.

In past years, these selected artworks were framed and exhibited outside of the City Council chambers at City Hall. This Student Art wall program was later modified and adapted to an online platform typically displaying up to 50 artworks that are chosen to receive an Arts and Culture Commission award.

This year, these selections have been reproduced into poster format for exhibition at bus shelters – a one-time collaboration with the Department of Transportation and funded by the Cultural Affairs Division.

Fifty of the over 100 artworks submitted to “No Boundaries” and curated in part by Pasadena-based Side Street Projects can now be seen at 50 bus shelters, where a QR code can be scanned so more information about the piece can be accessed on the viewer’s device.

Jennifer Paige, Acting Director of Planning and Community Development, said the exhibition is intended to be in place through July.
